WORKSHOPS and EVENTS

MAC is committed to public education as part of its mandate. As such, we offer a series of public workshops on sound- and media-art-related topics.

Have an idea for a workshop you would like to lead?

MAC seeks skilled, knowledgeable and enthusiastic phonophiliacs (sound lovers) to lead public education workshops.

Workshops should be on a sound-related topic approved by MAC and should be between one and two hours long. They should be participatory and focus on skill-building for participants. Soundwalks, soundscape awareness activities such as "ear-cleaning" exercises, and technical tutorials are examples of good workshop components. "Artist's talks" and lectures should be avoided.

The workshop leader will share the responsibility to take care of publicity and to track down a date, time, and venue for the workshop.

MAC will work with the workshop leader to set a location, date and help publicise the event. MAC also has a small budget to help with materials and technical support specific to the presentation..

Please keep in mind that for workshops that rely on the use of computers it may be difficult to gain access to a computer lab or simmilar facility that would facilitate hands-on computer participation. There are also licensing concerns when making use of commercial software packages.

The workshop leaders fee is $200.
